Dear Friends,
I am writing to you on behalf of the Board of Directors of Bethshean Mexico Mission to keep you up-to-date on the exciting and wonderful ways that Kingdom work continues to move forward in Central Mexico! It was a joy to travel with a group of 4 Board members just this past week and spend a few days working alongside Abdiel and Shannon Rocha, observing and encouraging them in the great work they are leading.
Our main purpose in visiting was to celebrate the dedication and opening of the new Medical and Dental Clinic which has been under construction for the past 12 years. Board members Dr. Frederick Martin and Dr. Mark Webb have been instrumental in seeing this dream through. The clinic has 3 fully stocked and operational modern exam rooms on the medical wing and 3 on the dental wing, as well as space for some overnight patients, labs for each side, a spacious reception area and a large upstairs floor for hosting future medical teams. Bethshean has also added Dr. Alma Gonzalez Hernandez as the lead physician overseeing the Bethshean Clinic. We are grateful to FAME Partners in Medical Evangelism for a $50,000 grant which launched this project forward and to all of our donors like you who have brought us to this exciting moment!
After grieving the loss of our beloved founder, Cris Garcia, just a few months ago, the Rochas have fully embraced the administrative and pastoral role in leading Bethshean Mexico Mission. What a blessing that they had already been working alongside Cris for the past 26 years! Please continue to pray for them, for discernment, wisdom, energy, passion and guidance from the Spirit as they lead. Even more specifically in prayer, all of the branches of the mission—the Clinic, Nursing Home, Camp and Churches—under the umbrella of Bethshean are coming into compliance with government regulations as a Civil Association. In many ways, this would be like converting an existing organization in the States into a 501c3. There is quite a lot of painstaking work involved, but this will allow us to have even greater influence in the years to come.
